Boxing
The Sessions
Private boxing sessions in Hampstead, Hampstead Heath, NW3 or home within surrounding areas. The sessions are for any level and are padwork based for fitness and technique, typically split in three parts; warm up, technique and sometimes sparring depending on the level of the student.
Technique teaching includes footwork, balance, strategy, head movement, defensive skills and an array of punches. Rounds are often timed with short rest time in between to improve fitness and endurance over time
A number of clients choose to combine boxing with weight training and/or combat Krav Maga / self defence training.

The Best Stress Relief
Boxing is a physical, emotional and mental connection within your body. It's you and the pads. Whatever is going on in your life, work, kids, relationships, money, or low mood during that hour of punching takes your mind off the problems. As someone who have been battling depression for years, boxing is my go happy pill!
Here are some quotes from people who have tried boxing:
“Boxing is my escape from stress”
“Have a blast and lose weight at the same time”
“It’s a great stress reliever, and it’s so fun!”
The Main 5 Benefits of Boxing
Improves heart health
Nicholas Polo is associate member of Harley Street’s One Heart Clinic and often gets referred to the Clinic’s patients following consultations and procedures with the intent to improve their heart health and overall fitness level. Regular physical activity like boxing can lower blood pressure, cholesterol and risk for heart disease.
Boosts Endurance
This goes in hand with Nicholas Polo’s overall training regime. Whether you train for fat loss, combat training, self defence and Krav Maga, doing boxing on a regular basis improves your endurance and results in your training.
Improves Coordination and Balance
Boxing is a great exercise to improve stability and balance especially as you age. Nicholas Polo’s clients include all ages from 10 year olds to people in their 80’s. Even some form of light boxing can be so good for improving overall coordination, balance and confidence making your everyday life activities easier and safer.
Improves Mental Health
If you ask Nicholas Polo’s clients this is probably the best benefit of all. Punching provides a form of meditation and intense focus. This delivers a double punch of rewards. Speaking to students the mental health benefits are so many including:
A healthy outlet for stress and aggression
Improved self esteem
Improved quality of life
Reduced anxiety and depression
Boxing: A good Base for Krav Maga
Striking fundamentals: Boxing provides a solid foundation in striking techniques and includes some of the upper body strikes used in self defence.
Distance management: Krav Maga physical responses when under attack are based on the distance between us and the attacker. If we go for a punch we need to be at the right distance and position to make the strike effective.
Movement: Proper footwork, head movement, slipping or ducking are valuable in Krav Maga for avoiding attacks.
There are of course other benefits that boxing can provide to learning and practicing self defence. This is why we very often use some boxing drills for warm up or light fighting during the sessions. t's worth noting though that while boxing provides an excellent foundation, Krav Maga incorporates additional elements such as grappling, weapon defense, and scenario-based training that are not typically covered in boxing.

I have been training for many years and consider myself to have a good eye for great coaches. I’ve been so impressed with Nicholas. The progress of all his clients is evident as everyone really gets adept at all the moves and yet are definitely enjoying themselves. If you love to hit the mitts boxing - he’s one of the best. He trains hard and understands what needs to be done- not just in theory. What an exemplary coach!!
